LootGoblin Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the LootGoblin mobile application (the “App”), published by Freyja Software, collects, uses, and protects your information. LootGoblin is a location-based game in which players discover and collect virtual items at real-world locations. By using the App you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

LootGoblin uses Google Sign-In (via Firebase Authentication) to create and secure your account. When you sign in we receive your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile photo URL. We use this only to identify your account and to save your game progress.

Location data

Because LootGoblin is a location-based game, the App requests access to your device’s precise location. Your location is used to render the in-game map, place your avatar, and determine which nearby virtual items you can interact with. Location is processed while you are actively playing. We do not sell your location data or use it for advertising.

Gameplay data

We store data associated with your account that is necessary to run the game, such as the items you have collected, your inventory, your discovery history (“Goblindex”), and in-game progress and statistics.

Device and usage information

We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous or pseudonymous usage and diagnostic information — such as app events, session length, device model, operating system version, and crash reports. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve stability and performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create, authenticate, and secure your account.
• To provide core gameplay, including the map, encounters, and item collection.
• To save and synchronize your progress across sessions.
• To diagnose crashes and technical problems and to improve the App.
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:

• Service providers. We rely on Google (Firebase Authentication, Firebase Analytics/Crashlytics) and Mapbox (map rendering) to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
• Protection of rights. To protect the safety, rights, or property of our users, the public, or Freyja Software.

4. Data Retention

We retain account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove the personal data associated with it, except where we are required to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. Aggregated or anonymized analytics data that can no longer identify you may be retained.

5. Your Rights and Choices

• You can revoke the App’s location permission at any time in your device settings; note that core gameplay requires location access.
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
• You can request deletion of your account and associated data (see Contact below).
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

6. Children’s Privacy

LootGoblin is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and trusted authentication providers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the App or other reasonable means. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
